About a year ago, hundreds of Ashtanga teachers signed and circulated a collective letter in response to sexual assault allegations against Taylor Hunt, an Ashtanga teacher in the lineage. I made a long form video about it on YouTube. You can watch it here.
I’m returning to it now because nothing has changed. The letter is still circulating. The problems with it are still unaddressed. And as more allegations continue to surface across yoga communities, this letter stands as something important: a detailed, documented reference for exactly what accountability does NOT look like.
