Ayurvedic Yoga, Pranayama, & Sensory
I prescribe individualized practices that include Yoga asanas, Pranayama (breathing practices), meditations, & other sensory therapies to bring balance to the body, mind, & senses. I bring all of my yogic, mediation, Sanskrit, and chanting knowledge to create an individualized approach to subtle therapies and the Vedic arts for both the healing and prevention of disease.
What To Expect & My Background
What to expect
Ayurvedic Yoga is personalized healthcare and there is no one size fits all approach. This program will span over the course of a few months. During this time you will be slowly, intentionally, and gently guided towards more health-affirming practices to manage diseases and work on long-term health goals. At the same time, you will learn how to manage the doshas and better understand their effects on our physical, emotional, and spiritual bodies. The goal is to become self-reliant and empowered to manage your own health.
Preliminary Consultation: This consultation will be approximately 2 hours long. We will assess your unique physical and psychological profile through questions and various Ayurvedic diagnostic techniques. Through this, we will determine your Prakruti (Ayurvedic constitution & genetic makeup) as well as your Vikruti (current state of imbalance). We’ll then devise a healthcare wellness plan specific to your needs.
Discovery Consultation: The Discovery Consultation is approximately one hour and is scheduled one week after the Initial Consultation. During this time we will go over the data and diagnosis from the Initial Consultation. We will discuss foundational principles of Ayurveda, your Prakruti (constitution & genetic makeup) as well as Vikruti (current state of imbalance). We will introduce the first steps in your wellness program. If a custom herbal formula is prescribed then this will be discussed, prepared, and administered accordingly.
Follow-Up Consultations: For those individuals that have completed the Preliminary & Discovery Program. Each individual follow-up consultation is recommended every two to four weeks. During these visits and according to your unique needs, we add, modify, and or eliminate any yoga asanas, breathing practices, meditations, and or sensory therapies as part of an overall Ayurvedic Yoga Wellness Program. Maintaining a continuing relationship is optimal to plan on six months to a year of support in order to develop a consistent, and deeply integrated practice.
Bikram Yoga: I began practicing Bikram Yoga and Pranayama at the age of 17 and continued until I began practicing Ashtanga Yoga.
Ashtanga Yoga: I began practicing at the age of 25 and continued a daily practice for 20 years. During that time I became a Certified Ashtanga teacher (1 in 20 worldwide). I was initiated and learned the Ashtanga Pranayama sequences and practiced well into the fourth series.
Bihar School of Yoga: I began practicing Tantric Meditations, Pranayama, and Yoga at the Bihar School of Yoga at the age of 21. I lived and was initiated into sannyas (renunciation) at the Bihar School of Yoga Ashram in 2007. I am a certified Yoga Nidra teacher with an emphasis on Tantric meditation, Chanting, and Mantra recitation.
Ayurvedic Yoga: I began formal Ayurvedic Yoga studies at the Ayurvedic Institute in 2019 and am currently continuing my Ayurvedic Yoga education at the California College of Ayurveda.
Sanskrit: I began studies in Sanskrit in Mysore, India in 2004 and continued a more formal approach at The Ayurvedic Institute.
Chanting: I began formal Sanskrit chanting classes (Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Sutras) in Mysore, India in 2004.
Currently: I design my own daily practices focusing on a heart-centered approach utilizing all the above experiences.
