Ethical Literacy For Yoga Teachers & Students

Yoga has spent decades emphasizing intention, healing, and self-awareness while quietly avoiding an honest conversation about power. This recorded class exists to address that gap.

Ethical Literacy for Yoga Teachers and Students examines how power actually operates inside yoga spaces, particularly teacher trainings, mentorships, and studio hierarchies. It is not an expose, a call out, or a list of bad actors. It is an education in why harm so often occurs without malicious intent and why good intentions are not enough when power goes unnamed.

Rather than telling you what to think or how to teach, this class provides ethical literacy: language, frameworks, and discernment for recognizing compromised consent, distinguishing ethical collaboration from extraction, and evaluating yoga spaces with clarity instead of self doubt.

This course is designed for teachers, trainees, and long-term practitioners who sense that something in yoga culture feels “off,” but haven’t had the tools to name it clearly.

What the class covers

  • How power operates in yoga teaching and training environments
  • Why ethics is a skill, not a personality trait
  • Consent under hierarchy and why refusal must be safe to be real
  • The difference between collaboration and extraction
  • Common red and yellow flags in yoga education
  • What ethical teaching actually requires beyond intention

This is not a certification, a code of conduct, or professional compliance training. It does not offer replacement systems or guarantees of safety. It offers clarity, competence, and discernment.

  • 38-minute class

From Teachers And Practitioners

Magnolia’s Women’s Health Course was fun, insightful, & incredibly valuable. It served as both a refresher of practices I’ve explored through 1:1 sessions with her & past Ayurvedic work, but went much deeper, especially in its focus on women’s health. The content was rich & thought-provoking, full of ideas & inspiration I’ve already started integrating into my daily life. I was also impressed by how skillfully Magnolia taught a group with such diverse ages & health backgrounds, making the material feel relevant & empowering for everyone. I highly recommend it!
